Wakame and Tuna with Soy Dressing (Wakame Sujoyu-Ae) Recipe
(serves  4)

Ingredients:

10 g/ 1/3 oz
3 tbsp

340 g/ 11 oz

dried wakame
rice vinegar
light soy sauce
sugar
sesame oil
canned water-packed tuna, well drained
lemon juice
medium Japanese cucumber, thinly sliced
large tomato, diced

 

Method:

  1. Soak the dried wakame in a bowl of cold water to soften, about 20 minutes. Drain, bring a small pan of water to the boil. Cook the wakame for 30 seconds, then drain and rinse under cold water. Dry on paper towel. Remove any hard veins from the wakame, then slice it into 1 cm/ 1/2 in strips.

  2. Combine vinegar, soy sauce, sugar and oil in a small bowl, stirring until sugar is dissolved.

  3. In a medium bowl, sprinkle tuna with lemon juice and break into bite-sized pieces using a fork.

  4. Combine wakame, cucumber, and tomato with the tuna and toss through the salad dressing. Serve immediately.

PREPARATION TIME: 30 minutes                                COOKING TIME: 3 minutes
