Sesame Chicken Loaf (Matsukaze-Yaki) Recipe
(serves  4 to 6)

Ingredients:

500 g/ 1 lb
1
2 cm/ 3/4 in
1 tbsp
1 tbsp
1
1 tbsp
2 tbsp

 

minced chicken
small leek, finely chopped
fresh ginger, peeled & finely chopped
soy sauce
sake
egg, beaten
oil
toasted sesame seeds

 

Method:

  1. Combine chicken, leek, ginger, soy sauce, sake and egg in a mixing bowl until well combined.

  2. Heat oil in a 20 cm/ 8 in frying pan, spread chicken mixture evenly over the base. Cook over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes, until underside is brown. Cut loaf into quarters, then turn the wedges over to cook the other side for a further 2 to 3 minutes.

  3. Transfer to a chopping board and slice into smaller pieces for serving if desired. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and serve with a green salad.

PREPARATION TIME: 15 minutes                                COOKING TIME: 10 minutes
