Sauteed Pork with Ginger (Butaniku Shoga-Yaki) Recipe
(serves  4)

Ingredients:

3 tbsp
2 tbsp
2 tbsp
1 tsp
2 tbsp
500 g/ 1 lb
120 g/ 3/4 cups
5 cm/ 2 in

 

soy sauce
fresh ginger juice
sake
sugar
oil
pork tender-loin, cut across in 3 mm slices
Chinese cabbage, in 2 1/2 cm/ 1 in squares
mature ginger, peeled and cut in julienne shreds

 

Method:

  1. Combine soy sauce, ginger juice, sake and sugar in a small bowl and stir until sugar is dissolved.

  2. Heat half of the oil in a medium frying pan over high heat. Add pork and sauté until meat is half cooked, about 1 minute. Remove pork from pan and drain.

  3. Add remaining tablespoon oil to the pan. Add cabbage and ginger and sauté until almost tender, about 2 minutes. Return pork to frying pan with the sauce mixture, and sauté over high heat until pork is cooked through, about 2 minutes. Serve immediately.

PREPARATION TIME: 10 minutes                                COOKING TIME: 6 minutes
