 LOW FAT LOW CHOLESTEROL RECIPES

Braised Mixed Vegetables Recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 cup/ 125 ml
1 tsp/ 5 ml
1/2 tsp/ 2.5 ml
1/2 tsp/ 2.5 ml
1/4 lb/ 110 g
1
1/4 lb/ 110 g
4 oz/ 110 g
4 oz/ 110 g
1 tbsp/ 15 ml
1 tbsp/ 15 ml
1 tbsp/ 15 ml
2 tsp/ 10 ml
 



Vegetable stock
chopped fresh ginger
chopped garlic
sugar
broccoli florets
large onion, cut into eighths
Chinese long beans, cut into 1 inch/ 2.5 cm lengths
bamboo shoots, sliced
straw mushrooms
salt-reduced soy sauce
oyster sauce
dry sherry
cornstarch

 

Method:

  1. Bring stock to a boil in a pan. Add ginger, garlic, sugar, broccoli, onion and beans. Cover, and cook on high heat 3-4 minutes. Add bamboo shoots and straw mushrooms.

  2. Blend soy and oyster sauces with sherry and cornstarch. Stir into vegetable mixture to thicken slightly. Serve at once.

Serves 4-6
